10 best pictures and anecdotes from my Solo trip to Kumaon

Though it’s been six months since I got back from my first solo leisure trip, the memories of the journey are still afresh. It feels as if I have just set my foot back in Pune from the serene and beautiful Kumaon. I was so overwhelmed with my trip that I could not find the right way to re-share my experience until now. So here is my travel story from the foothills of Himalaya, in 10 best pictures and anecdotes: The quaint little town of Bhimtal and its hardworking women: My stay in Kumaon further validated my impression about women in small towns and villages. They are the unsung heroes who earn a living, take care of household chores and yet look so stunning, brimming with energy. Light pale skin, boxed faces and unadulterated smile is how I remember them from Kumaon. Meet Prema and Hema, two farmers from Bhimtal, who were diligently sowing seeds while I was strolling in their paddy field. It was about sunset. The duo pleasantly looked up when I called …

Sun, Sand & Beaches (Malaysia Trip Part 1)

People become averse to birthday celebrations as they grow old, I had a similar feeling until I realized that aging, after all,  is not that bad. You grow wiser, have saved some money and achieved certain milestones in your career. Turning 30 was special to me. It felt like another milestone. So, I decided to celebrate my 30th birthday at a location, which would mean liberation and true celebration. After much brainstorming and of course, considering the budget available, me and my partner zeroed Malaysia! We decided to cover two locations, one which would introduce us to the country culture and the other which would tell us the story of modernization. So, our first destination was – Langkawi. I just could not stop taking pictures of this beautiful island. I was spellbound by the blue waters, cluster of small islands and breathtaking views. Here we go, to soak into the visual beauty of the Malaysian Island: The above is an aerial view of Langkawi. This is not allowed but I took this picture while landing at …

Monday Inspiration

Though I have been off on a week long vacation, I am back with much inspiration and refreshment. I guess this quote is a fore lore of the same 🙂 This picture was clicked at the Churchgate local station in Mumbai. I just loved the scene where there was an old vintage clock, some empty benches, a halted train and passerby who were just carrying on with their journeys and life. I am on a crossroad where I am thinking of what to do next. The lines originated to depict my feelings and what is going on in my mind right now. The picture was a perfect fit as when we look at the clock we know that time is running, but we don’t know what the next hour holds for us. Hope my thoughts bring in some inspiration for you too.

Wanderlust of Rain

A wait of months, A struggle of a year, and I was transformed. I teared the clouds, I swayed in the arms of air, I can see what lies beneath. I touched the cheeks of trees, Knocked the windowsill and kissed the ground. I am floating, to mix with the sea, the skies await, A mingled chain, wanderlust of Rain.
